Mafia Wars

Of course, there are some special advanced tactics that some higher level players use to help them make the most of their energy and their time in Mafia Wars.  Want to know what they are?  Check these out:

1. Utilize energy packs the right way: There are too many players that will use an energy pack when they do not need to.  Wait until you have used up almost all of your energy (below 10) and then use an energy pack.  This way, you get to completely overfill your energy and this allows you to keep playing longer and to get more out of your game time.  Don't waste them if you are really close to leveling either, as you'll end up wasting it as you will get a complete energy refill when you level.  Just be smart with them.
2. Gift daily to your Mafia: This means both normal gifts, specialty items, mystery bags, and energy packs.  If you are gifting energy packs, they'll gift them back - same thing with gifts.  The more that you gift, the more you'll get.
3. Take advantage of helping out others with specialty gifts or respect: So far, Mafia Wars has had a few different specialty areas where you can send items and get items as well.  These have been helping your Mafia crack safes and helping with crime sprees.  When you help your Mafia members, you'll get to choose to either help or sabotage their operation, and you will get to choose a special gift: either 25 experience points, 15 energy points, or 15 stamina.  This is a massive way to earn free experience points each day - although you can only help 5 friends a day, that's 125 experience points that you can gain.  Also, when you ask friends to help you, you gain access to a ton of great loot!  Don't miss out on these special areas.

4. Make sure that you have a massive Mafia: While this might sound hard to do when you're first starting out, make sure that you ask all of your friends to join your mafia.  If you still are lacking, make sure that you check out the social areas here on our site and add all of the mafia members you could ever need.
5. Start saving your consumables as soon as possible: This means that you need to start saving up your consumable items as soon as possible so that you aren't scrambling or having to go back to previous tiers to get the items that you need.  Instead, make sure that you start stockpiling and asking for items that you know you will need a ton of.
6. Always choose the consumable: When you find specialty items as you're doing jobs, it will always offer one consumable.  Usually these are consumables that you will really need a lot of when you get to a higher level, so always choose the consumable and add it to your stockpile.
7. Go for the easy achievements right away: When you are playing, keep an eye on the achievements list.  When you see one that you are almost about to get, try to finish whatever it is that you need to complete it.  You'll always get a good reward for finishing an achievement, and sometimes it can mean the difference in leveling and not that day.

8. Dump the majority of your skill points into your energy: While it's always a good idea to put skills points into other areas of your character, you want to dump the majority of them into your energy.  No, it won't change the overall regeneration time of your energy bar, but when you use an energy pack you will really notice the difference and be able to use it to your advantage.  It will also help when you are at higher levels and you need a ton of energy to complete some jobs.  If your energy bar isn't big enough, you won't be able to complete even one job on that job tier.
9. Robbing isn't all it's cracked up to be: Yes, you get to level your robbing skills and yes, it's kind of cool.  But robbing isn't all that you think it is, and if you rob a lot, be prepared to get robbed as well and be prepared to pay a lot of property repairs.  So, it's best if you can steer clear of it.
10. Work the special jobs as often as you can: In Mafia Wars, there will always be specialty jobs, either as a holiday or special event or even special areas (such as London).  When you do these specialty jobs, you will be able to gain specialty rewards as well, which are usually well worth the time and effort that it takes to get them.  So, don't pass these specialty jobs by!
