Social CitySocial City has millions of fans, and says that it gives you the chance to build and run your own city. But does it stand up to other games out there that offer the same thing, like MyTown, or does it completely blow them out of the water? Let's take an in-depth look at Social City and see where it is grabbing all of these gamers.

Goal: While the overall goal of Social City is just like other Facebook games, to level your city, there are tons of smaller goals that you'll find here as well. For example, you will have to build a certain number of houses and wait for people to arrive before you can build other things. You'll have to build a certain number of factories to get the money in that you need to keep your city going, and along the way, you'll get achievement bonuses for doing all of these things. So, it's not just a build and see game, Social City requires a lot of focus on the smaller goals to achieve the bigger one. The goals in Social City get a 9 out of 10.

Game Play: Here is one big area where Social City really differs from other building games as it offers a massive amount of things to do and keep an eye on. You'll start off in Social City wondering what to do, but the little tutorial will help. You'll have to make sure that you build houses so that new citizens will arrive. Once you build the house, you have to wait a set amount of time (usually from seconds to minutes depending on the size of the home), and then click the house to see that people have moved in. When you have citizens in your city, you have to have factories to keep them working and to pull in money for your town. But, along the way, you have to build roads, trees, flower beds, and more to make the city better. And, you'll eventually start building bigger buildings, shops, art galleries, and more to keep your people happy and offer them everything that they need in their new city. If you don't give them the leisure buildings that they want, your city won't grow and will just basically be a “junk” city.

Overall, the elements of the game play far exceed the normal city building games on Facebook. Between the differences in buildings and how the game is played, Social City offers something completely different than other social games out there. And, when it comes to the social aspect of Social City, you will have to gain as many neighbors as you possibly can so that you can visit their cities and earn experience and money. Also, having more neighbors will help you level faster and gain more things for your city – especially with the cool gifts that you'll find in Social City. So, overall the game play of Social City gets a solid 10 out of 10.

Social City Game PlayGraphics: The graphics in Social City are amazing. They include both greatly detailed little buildings, nice greenery, fun little houses, and even nice animations that help to give the illusion that you're really building a real city – instead of just a game. The details in everything are very well done and none of the animations are buggy which help with the overall rating a lot over other building games out there. So, the graphics overall get a 10 out of 10

Sound: Just like other Facebook games, Social City lacks just a bit when it comes to the sounds and music. While the sounds are pretty good overall for the game (such as birds, cars, and so on) which only add to the fun of the game. There could be a few more sounds, but it's nothing that will make people not want to play Social City. The music however leaves something to be desired. The developers could have spent just a little more time here, but the music isn't as bad as some of the other social games on Facebook. So, the sounds and music in Social City get an 8 out of 10.

Social City ContractSpecial Items: For those that love all of those special items in Facebook games, Social City won't leave you wanting more. There are tons of great items (both that you buy with money you earn in game and those that you can buy with real money), and you will never have a shortage of buildings, decorations, greenery at your disposal. And, you will find that friends and neighbors can gift you special items for your city as well. All of the special items that you'll find in Social City are really well thought out, and get a solid 9 out of 10.

Overall, if you aren't playing Social City, you should be. It is by far the best city building game on Facebook right now and offers tons of great social gaming fun as well. Between the intricate game play and the excellent graphics, there is just so much to this Facebook game that it will be hard for you to put it down.
